CHILD DEDICATATIONS

Dedication of children is a commitment to raise and nurture a child according to God's word. Through dedication, the family commits themselves and their child to God and to providing every opportunity and encouragement to the child to make their own personal commitment to Christ as they grow older. Our congregation also supports and prays for the family as they raise their child. Dedications are scheduled during our regular Sunday morning service several times a year or in a private setting with close friends and family. Please contact info@thelakesidechurch.ca for more information.

CONNECT GROUPS

Since everything in life revolves around relationship, we believe that the most important relationship is with Jesus Christ. We also value relationship with others, and you will find that in Connect Groups. As the church grows larger, it can remain small through these groups. In the book of Acts chapter 2:41-47, we see a clear picture of connect groups in operation.

Connect Groups are the easiest way for you to get connected at TLC. They are the best way to get to know other people and make new friends. We want to connect you to each other and to God. Currently, we have 3 connect groups that meet through Zoom – 1 in Pickering and 2 in Toronto. If you are interested in joining a group, please contact connect@thelakesidechurch.ca

FASTING

At TLC we fast corporately once a week on Tuesday and then every 4 months, we participate in 3 day fasts. God considers fasting important. The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose; it hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives.

Scripture References: Nehemiah 9:1-3; Isaiah 58:5-8; Matthew 6:16-18;  Matthew 9:14-15;  Luke 18:9-14; Acts 27:33-37

Types of Fasts: Your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.

  • Complete: In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.

  • Selective: This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.

  • Partial: This involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.

STARTING POINT: A CONVERSATION ABOUT FAITH

Are you a new Christian? Did you just come to faith in Christ Jesus? Congratulations! It is the best decision you will ever make! You are now considered a son/daughter of God and a co-heir with Christ. New believers have many questions, like "Where do I go from here?" "What does God expect of me?" "What can I and cannot do?" "How should I live my life now"?

At TLC we are committed to walking with you in your new Christian journey. In addition to being available to you via phone or email, we would like to send you the "Now What" booklet which gives new believers a firm foundation as they start building their faith. the author explains the salvation experience and answers questions about the Bible, prayer, and discovering God's will. To order your free copy, please email Pastor Sabrina at info@thelakesidechurch.ca or call her at (647) 501-5040.
