September 15, 2019 - Sermon Notes

You can listen to this sermon by clicking here or you can read the notes below.

Belt of Truth:

Truth is not subjective; it is not the product of what culture says; it is not collective (what the majority think).

Truth is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory, and being of God.

Truth is the self-expression of God.

Truth cannot be adequately explained, recognized, understood, or defined without God making Him the author, determiner, arbiter, ultimate standard, and final judge of all truth.

If there is no belt of truth buckled tightly around our waist, the rest of the armour would be of no use to us because we would have nothing holding the armour together. Without truth, we are left vulnerable to being “taken captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ!” Colossians 2: 8

To buckle on the belt of truth is to live in freedom. It is to tie up all the things that so easily entangle us in the natural realm. It is to give Christ the final say in our lives.

Breastplate of Righteousness:

  • The breastplate was used to protect vital organs like the heart from injury.

  • If Satan can get to our hearts, he has access to our thoughts, he can control our emotions and even manipulate our wills.

  • Above all, above everything else in life, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23

What is Righteousness? There are 3 kinds of righteousness in the Bible:

  1. Self-righteousness

  2. Positional (imputed) righteousness

  3. Practical (lived out) righteousness

Do you want victory in your life?

  1. Withdraw your spiritual resources from your heavenly bank account!

  2. Put on the armour of God, and

  3. When you’ve done that, stand!
