BATTLE READY: OUR INVISIBLE ENEMY

One of the biggest mistakes we can make as Christians is underestimating the spiritual battle we are a part of every day. Do you know why so many of us are losing the battles in our lives? Because we are fighting the wrong enemy!

We’ve been convinced into believing that just because a person said or did something to hurt us, that person is our enemy and the source of our pain. But Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:12 that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” And since people are definitely flesh and blood, they’re not our enemy. Our spouse isn’t the enemy. Our kids aren’t the enemy. Our boss or teacher isn’t the enemy. Our friends aren’t the enemy. Those who show dislike or hostility to us aren’t the enemy.

So who is our enemy? The Word of God tells us his name is Satan and his one goal is to destroy us. He unleashes all his demonic forces, strategies and influences against us and they are behind every personal attack we face. Apostle Paul describes them as principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. Everything that happens in the visible and physical world is directly connected to the war being waged in the invisible and spiritual world.

We don’t have to fear our enemy, because God has given us all we need in Christ to stand firm against Satan and his demons. We don’t need to fight for victory - that’s already been done for us by our Lord Jesus through His death on the cross, His resurrection and ascension into heaven. Our part in the war is to stand firm in victory believing that God is who He says He is, and we are who He says we are - new creations, empowered by the Holy Spirit, living by the Word of God and blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

When the enemy comes against you, remember that God is on your side! You are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you!

In Him,

Pastor Brian
