MOVING FORWARD: BELIEVING JESUS MAKES THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE
Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Mark 9:23
The word impossible is found eleven times in Scripture, and most of the references tell us that this word isn’t a part of who God is.
Matthew 19:26: “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Luke 1:37: “With God nothing will be impossible.”
Hebrews 6:18: “It is impossible for God to lie.”
Hebrews 11:6 “Without faith it is impossible for us to please God.”
Just as He parted the Red Sea for Israel, killed Goliath for David, shut the mouths of the lions for Daniel, and with eternal consequences raised the Lord Jesus from the dead, God is still in the business of doing the impossible for His children.
In Joshua chapter 10, Joshua asked God to keep the sun still in the sky because Israel was fighting a battle against 5 Amorite kings where daylight was essential. God answered his bold, fearless prayer teaching us that God honours bold prayers of faith. Our prayers reflect how big or small we believe God is. If you were to examine your life right now and consider what bold and impossible things you’d ask God to do according to His will for you, what would they be? Realize that in asking, God is still looking for action on your part. We don’t simply ask boldly and then back off. Joshua and the Israelites still had to be in the battle, but it was God who gave them the impossible victory. Only God can make the impossible, possible. For the first time in the history of the universe, the sun, the moon and everything in the solar system stopped moving. Everything froze in place so Joshua could continue defeating the Amorites. “So the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed its setting almost a full day.” Joshua 10:13
Did God really stop the sun? Of course He did! He can do whatever He pleases. He made the sun. He made the earth! He made space! He made the laws of planetary motion, therefore He can stop them whenever He wants. Do you believe our God, the Lord Jesus Christ is truly omnipotent, all-powerful? Is He powerful enough to heal your marriage? Is He faithful enough to save your children? Is He strong enough to provide your financial needs, your physical healing? Is your God able to make you an effective parent? Can He help succeed at your job? Will He answer your prayers? Our God can do anything!!! And yes, He still answers bold, fearless prayers of faith, proving that He is still a God of miracles. Love,
Pastor Sabrina
