MOVING FORWARD: CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

Have you ever faced a challenge that left you feeling afraid and inadequate? Has God promised you something, but you have to face a challenge before you get to that promise? Well, Joshua faced huge challenges that stood between him and the promises of God for the nation of Israel. He was chosen to lead the people into the Promised Land, but before they got there, he had to take them through the Jordan River during flood season, fight off many enemies - some living behind fortified walls, and then claim the land.

Joshua was a strong leader but he was not superhuman. He had fears, he had weaknesses and he probably felt very inadequate to step into Moses’ shoes. But he chose to lay that aside and allow the Lord to direct him through the challenges.

Confidence to face challenges that stand between us and the promises of God doesn't come from us, but comes from our faith that the Lord will keep His promises to us. God promised Joshua that He would be with him every step of the way, so Joshua never faced a challenge alone. We can be strong and courageous because our Lord and Saviour is always with us. We can move forward in the face of fear, or hardship and difficulty, facing those challenges with God, knowing that His promises for us are on the other side of those challenges.

Remember, fear paralyzes, but faith focuses on the promise. Be strong and courageous, you are never alone!

In Him,

Pastor Brian
