COVID-19 Update

Statement From Our Lead Pastors - April 1

Dear Friends,

We are going into Week 3 of social distancing and isolation, and we miss all of you terribly. We are praying that this pandemic is eradicated quickly because we need our hugs, kisses and face-to-face interactions. In the meantime though, we listen to our health officials and stay away, at least 6 feet away from each other, and not gather in groups of 5 or more.

Have you noticed that social media these days is filled with so many memes about Covid-19, but the one that caught my attention a few weeks ago was this one…

COVID 19 - Christ Over Viruses and Infectious Diseases - Joshua 1:9

This verse in Joshua says: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

“Wherever you go” - words right from the mouth of Almighty God to encourage Joshua as he prepared the people of Israel to face an unknown future. And these words are just as relevant to us today. Certainly, we are entering into unknown territory with the outbreak of the coronavirus and we are concerned about the future.

Whether we admit it or not, it is natural to wonder about the future. Even those of us who are “happy to live in the moment” wonder about what a world after COVID-19 future will bring. The problem with worrying about the future is - the future is not here and the future is not ours.

While the future may be out of our hands, it's certainly not out of the hands of God who is not in quarantine, who does not have to self-isolate and our God who completely and totally trustworthy.

The Lord understands our concerns. He realizes that we are all in a situation that we have never passed through before. Just as God guided the Israelites through unknown territory, He will guide us too.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour. (Isaiah 43:2,3b)
